Chain breakage monitoring for curve conveyor

The LUBING chain breakage monitoring for the curve conveyor is a control system that is specially designed for use with the LUBING curve conveyor. The chain breakage monitoring continuously checks the running of the conveyor chain for chain breakage during the system’s operation.

Due to the chain breakage monitoring system, egg loss and damage to the conveyor system can be reduced to a minimum, as the system stops the entire conveyor system and puts it out of operation if necessary (chain breakage).

The system consists of two position switches with adjustment roller levers. For longer conveyor sections, additional switches can be added as required. As a rough recommendation, two switches can be planned for each drive unit.

Position switch in normal operation:

Upper chain position switch deflected due to chain break:

One switch controls the upper chain, and one switch controls the lower chain. The roller levers slide over the conveyor chain while the system operates. In a failure (chain breakage), the roller levers swing back to zero because the position switches can no longer detect the conveyor chain. The conveyor system stops.

Benefits

  • Early detection of problems: By continuously monitoring the conveyor chain, chain breaks can be detected early before they lead to serious malfunctions or breakdowns.
  • Minimizing downtime: By automatically stopping the conveyor in the event of a chain break, the system avoids extended downtime and costly repairs.
  • Protecting the system: The chain break monitoring system protects the entire conveyor system from damage that could be caused by a chain break, which extends the service life of the system.
  • Increase in operational safety: the implementation of a reliable monitoring system increases the safety of employees, as potential hazards can be detected and eliminated at an early stage.
  • Cost efficiency: reducing yield losses and repair costs through early intervention contributes to the cost efficiency of operations.
  • Easy integration: chain break monitoring can be integrated into existing systems and is adaptable to different system sizes and configurations.
  • Maintenance optimization: Monitoring enables targeted maintenance planning, as problems can be identified before they lead to major disruptions.
